Finding a way from city to waterfront
The Hobart City to Cove Strategy is a plan for the most high-profile dilemma in Hobart – improving the connection between the city centre and the harbour. This project demanded a creative approach to problem solving and consideration of a range of options. It required analysis of pedestrian traffic movement, land use and commercial space, understanding of business and employment clusters in city centre precincts, tourist visitor movements and the likely impacts of street and public space changes to the precinct.
The purpose of the strategy was to analyse possible locations and to provide a range of concepts for improved pedestrian and cycling connection between the inner city and Sullivans Cove. The report reviewed the current access from the inner city to Sullivans Cove and other waterfront locations, as well the current limitations that exist.
