Post Formations: AR130

This article by Gerard Reinmuth is the first in what will be a series of positions in each issue of Architecture Review Asia Pacific.  The series has been conceived by new editor Michael Holt.

In this piece, Gerard examines the practice-theory disjunction in contemproary architecture and argues for a new understanding of both theoretical subjects and their mode of relation to matters of practice.  This builds upon the work done in Formations (the Australian Pavilion for the 2012 Venice Biennale of Architecture) around the minimal agency held by the profession as it is currently conceived.
